Beautifully dark and cool day in Sewanee. Barely got above 70º today with a nice south breeze. Occasional drizzle left the track wet, so no super fast times. One of these days I'm going to take a scrub brush and some soapy water and clean lane 6 at the 400m start where it's all slimy with lichen and residue under the tree. I ran these 250s about 400m race pace.
Hoka trainers on
stretches, drills, 2 x 100, 50
250m - 33.82 (26.62 / 7.20)
250m - 33.54 (26.07, 7.47)
250m - 34.17 (26.50, 7.67)
5 x 30m starts from blocks
The first event run was the best, note the last 50m. Second was too fast. At that pace I'd be pushing a 31.5+ for the second 200. I really need to come in about 30 or 29 high if I hope to break 57.
After the event runs, I put the spikes on for some starts. They felt a little clunky and I was a tad sore in the foot and lower ab.
I really think I'm sacrificing a fast 200m time to race the 400m again this Sat. The reason I'm running both is that meets are becoming scarce and there should be ample recovery time in between. I may even go back on Sunday, and race an 800m just for the workout, if I'm not too beat up after two races. I've been probably over training a bit and with my next meet after Sat., 2 weeks away, I can go back to the 'every other day on the track' regime. Past 2 weeks I did 4 days in a row including race day.
138.8 lbs after workout.
