Did the same pool workout tonight, intervals a little more even. Good short workout, takes only about 10min. HR higher tonight. Stuck closer to my 1 min rest interval.

It was hard, but short and sweet. I'm sure I could improve my times with an aggressive flip turn, but I'm only pushing off gingerly due to my knee.
Doesn't look like my surgery will happen on Thurs unless something big happens tomorrow. The insurance company Drs have failed to timely confirm a meeting with my Dr. and as a result, I will likely lose $300 in a non-refundable airline ticket. I may have an option to have surgery Mon, 2/3. So crazy, the way I've been jerked around by this insurance company.
Imagine if you had a serious cancer surgery planned and they pulled the same thing. They did that to me because I opted for robotic surgery to which they said was not medically necessary. Fortunately reversed on appeal otherwise I would have been waiting another 6 weeks for surgery which would have given the cancer opportunity to spread. Talk about mental anguish.
ReplyDeleteMan, waiting for that phone call. In 5 min, one guys decision could be life or death, or $20k out of pocket+ for me.
DeleteIn my case surgery was also in LA but I had to stay for 3 weeks, 4 days in hospital. So the call from the insurance company was horrific. Besides the inconvenience potentially existential.
ReplyDeleteMy surgery is now rescheduled for Mon. The insurance com Drs have blown off the peer to peer meeting with my surgeon twice now and it has cost me $300 to cancel a flight.
DeleteI bet your status as an athlete, if fully disclosed, hurts your chances for insurance approval. For the aging population the most satisfied patients are those most crippled as any result is a big improvement. Probably a better play to emphasize patient wants to remain active in hiking/biking and reduce chance of having knee replacement. No one in the medical community thinks serious athletic pursuit for our age group is what they should be enabling through medical procedures. But remaining active and preventing a more complicated invasive procedure is justifiable.
